1 in stock

Hand forged damascus steel Nakiri by Dr Zech featuring 256 true layers. A slightly less conventional approach was given to the blade shape. Dr Zech jokingly calls it the ‘Samuruai slicer’ and is perfect choice for thinly slicing vegetables and boneless meats.

Blade Length: 225mm

Blade Height: 45mm

Blade Thickness: 1.8mm

Handle Dimensions: c. 105mm x 25mm x 15mm

This beautiful hand forged Damascus steel Nakiri is all handmade by Dr Zech. He has used 15n20 and En42 steel for the pattern weld. The initial stages of forging the billet were done with a power hammer to ensure uniform welds between the steel layers. A stack of 4 bars was folded 6 times to achieve 256 layers. The final shaping of the knife was done by hand forging, hence some hammer marks are left on the blade visible as lower areas with some forge scale still remaining.

Dr Zech took a slightly different approach to the handle on this knife. It features highly polished acyrlester over a full tang with oil paper liner. The handle is glued and screwed, with the screws left exposed. These screws are stainless steel and have been coloured by heat treatment for an added extra element.
