Event Description

Beginners blacksmithing course by Dr. Zech. This course features a 1.5hr session that teaches you the basics of forging hot steel. It is a 1 on 1 lesson and you get to keep what you make. If you have an idea of what you would like to make, message Dr. Zech first using the contact tab at the top of the page i.e. you may wish to make a dice. No previous experience is necessary and if you don’t have a particular project in mind, not to worry!

By default Dr. Zech teaches how to make a coat hook in two styles, a Roman brooch/pin, and a Viking style knife and you are free to choose on the day which you would like to make. If you choose the Viking style knife the finish grinding is not included in the beginners class and you will need to do the finish work yourself with an angle grinder, mini-belt sander, etc.
